Candid Lets You Integrate Moderated Fan Photos from Instagram into e-Commerce Stores

by Bianca Bartz 1 year ago

Rather than marketing with traditional product shots, Candid lets brands leverage the feeds of their fans on Instagram. The HIGHLINE portfolio company — which calls itself a Visual Commerce platform — taps into the power of the crowd through e-commerce plugins that integrate with any platform to provide social proof, as well as stats to measure engagement and ROI.

Candid’s 4-step process lets you 1) select the user-generated media you’d like to showcase, 2) send right requests, 3) get permission, and 4) use images anywhere, from your Facebook page to your website.

From there, Candid lets brands integrate a “Shop ‘My Likes'” feature that makes it possible for fans to personalize and shop directly from their Instagram feed. Candid’s features include vanity domains (e.g. shop.brand.com), real-time revenue tracking, real-time publishing, complete layout control, creative control, custom OAuth keys, and email collection.

The backstory (from candid.io)

“In the summer of 2012, friends and business partners Nariman Haghighi and Dominic Gignac saw an opportunity that would allow Instagram photographers to gain even more exposure for their personal stories, while providing unique and authentic insights and content to brands. Simply put, Candid creates a bridge that enables exchanges between brands and mobile photographers, with the aim of returning much of the value created back to the photographer. We see the future of ‘social’ as sharing the economic benefit of the network with members, and we’re taking every step to ensure that content creators are firmly in control.”
